Why Tesla Stock Just Jumped 6%
Shares of Elon Musk’s favorite electric-car maker Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) are (sock) hopping today — up 6.5% in early trading and still up 5.9% as of 1:05 p.m. EST Monday — and no one seems 100% certain of why. Two possibilities suggest themselves, however.
First, over the weekend, Musk tweeted that he plans to “put an old school drive-in, roller skates & rock restaurant at one of the new Tesla Supercharger locations in LA.”
Similar to what we saw with Musk’s send-a-Tesla-to-Mars tweet last month, this one brought the now-to-be-expected chorus of cheers on Twitter and is getting Tesla a fair share of free publicity as a result.
Tesla is a ‘threat,’ but we’re ‘more than up to the challenge,’ Chinese start-up says
Tesla is gearing up to manufacture its cars in China, but one of its primary competitors there says it isn’t sweating the competition.
Louis Hsieh, CFO of Chinese electric vehicle start-up Nio, told CNBC Tuesday that he firmly believes his company is up to the challenge posed by Elon Musk’s barrier-breaking car company.
China has always been seen as an attractive market: The sheer number of potential consumers has made it difficult for major companies to ignore the country. Tesla is no different, striking a deal last year to build a factory there.
The biggest misconceptions about bitcoin
The price of bitcoin rose 1,221% in 2017. Everyone was talking about the cryptocurrency in December, and will continue to talk about it into 2018, even though the frenzy and general conversation has expanded to cryptocurrencies like litecoin, ether, ripple and beyond.
But as the general public takes a much larger interest in bitcoin, a number of popular misconceptions still linger. You see people shouting these things on Twitter, or hear friends or colleagues saying them, or even sometimes read them in an incorrect news article.
Today's Trade of the Day | 1-9-18
Good trade ideas were hard to find today. And that is a giant lesson, especially for day traders.
This chart of GS-Goldman Sachs was reviewed last week in a tape reading lesson. Although the stock was "technically" in an uptrend, we see trouble for the bulls as the stock was not rallying with the stock market indices and was consistently closing below the open price.
If you hope to become a profitable trader, you MUST learn to make more distinctions. "Is it a buy or a sell?" is simply not enough information, you need to know how to dig into the charts and get the complete answers before you accept risk.
