Today’s Trading Lesson…
To The Modern Chart Reader
You know everyone thinks we’re crazy, right?
To most of the world, trading is a joke.
It isn’t a career. It isn’t a real job. It isn’t a way to have security.
It’s a hobby, a diversion, a phase that’ll come and go. Sure, you can get licensed, but don’t count on that to make you any money. That’s no guarantee.
Try telling your family or friends or coworkers you want to quit your job and make money trading. They’ll smile politely and ask, “Does anybody really make money from that?”
Yes, they want you to have dreams. Yes, they want you to chase them. Yes, they want you to succeed.
But they also want you to be “realistic.”
If you really want to improve your life, you should go to college, buy a franchise, or even go into sales, not hang all your hopes and dreams on the market. Nobody can make money trading.
On the Tape Today | 2-9-17
EBAY | EBAY Inc shows an energy candlestick with solid volume. Well-bid and coming out of 3 melted candlesticks gives us a clean trade to take on a buy-stop above yesterday's high. Planning for an initial target of $36.50. Stopped out on a daily chart close below $32.50.
KORS Michaels Kors HLDGS offering a new sell short after getting hammered earlier in the week. Game planning for another day higher and the a limit order to sell short @ $39.75.
Tape Reading the SPY ETF
$SPY continues to trade a meager @50 million shares per day.
This price action gets many traders in trouble. If you’re thinking about shorting, because the longs are tough—banish the thought. Look at the lower open yesterday that ended up with a close near the highs.
Could the stock market have a bearish day? Yes… but the order flow still tells a story to be long. The big money, the institutions have not started to unload shares yet. The reason we “know” this comes from volume. There’s a reason we mention the volume EVERY DAY.
You must track volume because price doesn’t give you the complete picture. If one jacket gets sold at $20, versus five jackets sold at the same $20, the price takes on a whole new meaning. A bigger demand exists.
Learn how to read the order flow, and your trading moves to the next level, without changing your current strategy.
