HP (HPQ) Earnings Expected to Grow: Should You Buy?

Wall Street expects a year-over-year increase in earnings on higher revenues when HP (HPQ) reports results for the quarter ended October 2018.

While this widely-known consensus outlook is important in gauging the company’s earnings picture, a powerful factor that could impact its near-term stock price is how the actual results compare to these estimates.

The earnings report, which is expected to be released on November 29, 2018, might help the stock move higher if these key numbers are better than expectations. On the other hand, if they miss, the stock may move lower.

Tape Reading the SPY ETF

The stock market and the SPY ETF got a FED boost mid-day with implied comments about future interest rate hikes (or lack of hikes).

So what is today's trade? I despise using the word overbought because it's subjective. Yesterday we also covered the difference between a short-covering rally and new buying. We said short-covering was fast and violent. Boom, there you go. Who cares what the reason is, price unfolded as we said.

What to watch today is change from the open, especially if we get a lower open. Do the bulls step back in and "hold the bid?" Which means they follow up yesterday's FED induce bounce with new buying.

If so, then yesterday's lesson in tape reading comes to fruition and new buying backed by short covering creates a stunning bullish move. Let's see what the bulls have in store today.
